5. Work preparation

With the help of the work preparation function, the planner or work planner is given the opportunity to prepare the production jobs before they go into production. Actions are possible to perform, add or remove the following:

  • Add drawings, work instructions or videos

  • Clustering (of jobs that can be performed jointly)

  • Changing the priority of a job

  • Convert the entire job chain for a production order to a rush order

  • Reschedule or delete the job or assign another cell/machine/work center (may be outsourcing)

  • Add material to a job

  • Add or insert a job (activity)

  • Assign (specific) or add resources

  • Create barcode labels

  • Capture notes

  • Changing the job information and status

With the help of the instructions below you will learn how to adapt the work preparation function to your needs and wishes and how to perform the above actions.

It is important that after going through the instructions you will also perform the functions yourself in the test environment

5.1 What are the options in FlowOpt

The planner or work planner is given the opportunity to supplement and adjust and/or replan work orders. To this end, a number of functions are available which you can enable or disable yourself. This may limit the options offered via these functions, but it does simplify the use. You can turn them on or off whenever required.

All the above mentioned actions are supported by FlowOpt. How to perform the actions and their effect is described in the functions below.

The training is divided into the explanation of the following functionality:

How can you enable or disable work preparation function?

FlowOpt offers you the possibility to enable or disable functions that you can perform as a work planner. This allows you to disable the functionality that you do not or rarely use and limit the information on the screen. These are settings that are determined per cell or work center. This way you can fully personalize the functionality and, if desired, also activate certain functions for one-time use.

In the slides below we explain how you can switch the functions on or off.

In the slides below we explain what the meaning is and which function you can activate with it

How can you cluster jobs to be carried out as a joint job in production

In FlowOpt you can merge jobs from different orders, which logically can best be executed together, into a Cluster, so that you can release and report on them together. Of course, this is only possible with jobs that are executed in the same cell/work center. You can freely add or remove jobs to the cluster.

In the slides below we explain how you can combine jobs into a cluster.

What actions can you perform on the jobs?

Various actions are possible, which give the job a different status or priority, but you can also add or insert materials or activities as a work planner.

In the slides below we explain which actions are possible and how you can carry them out.

How can you print a QR code label of the job and what are they for?

FlowOpt offers the possibility to start and stop Jobs using QR code scanning. You can create a separate label for each job or for the first or a specific job only, so that this one label can be used to start successive jobs. The content of the label, in addition to the QR code, can be determined together with us.

In the slides below we explain how you can print the labels.

How can you allocate (specific) Resources or additional resources to a job?

Resources can be assigned to the jobs from the Process Map when creating the job chain. It is possible that several of the same resource are available. In that case, the specific resource will have to be allocated based on an item number, so that the correct one is allocated when the job is put into production

In the slides below we explain how you can add Resources and assign specific ones.

There is an extensive explanation available under Resources .

How can you consult and add texts, documents, drawings, etc.?

FlowOpt offers the possibility to link an unlimited number of documents per job, which are required during the production process. These documents and texts can already have been copied from the Process Map, but they can also be consulted and/or added by the work planner.

In the slides below we explain how you can consult or add documents/texts.
